The Little Things That Show Just How Close Bunk Life Really Is
Lately around the Cove…
I was doing laundry — nothing glamorous, just another load — when I spotted a sock with a name tag on it…and it wasn’t my kid’s. It belonged to one of her bunkmates from the summer.
Instead of being annoyed or confused, I actually laughed. That tiny sock instantly pulled me right back into bunk life at Camp Crescent Cove — the place where sharing clothes is normal, friendships form overnight, and everyone becomes a part of each other’s world without even trying.
Bunk Life Is Where the Magic Begins
There’s something special about living in a cabin together.
Kids show up not knowing exactly who they’ll be sleeping next to…and leave feeling like they’ve gained siblings. The bunk becomes their little sacred universe — full of inside jokes, late-night whispering, silly arguments that last seconds, and moments that stick with us forever.
Oh, and of course…plenty of shared hoodies, swapped socks, and who-knows-whose water bottle.

The Comfort of Feeling Known
When you live together, you get comfortable fast!
Campers start borrowing hair ties, trading T-shirts/jerseys, and spotting each other’s stuff across the room like it’s their own. Another reminder that it’s not at all about the things — it’s about the closeness behind it.
- It means they feel safe.
- It means they feel at home.
- It means the bunk has become a real community.
A Mundane Moment Turned Meaningful
That lost sock in my laundry didn’t just belong to a bunkmate — it belonged to a now lifelong friend who is part of a summer full of shared stories, goofy moments and whispered secrets that form when kids are present, digital free and living together.
Bunk life builds a bond that’s different from anything else. And sometimes, it shows up in the most random, ordinary places…like the bottom of your laundry pile.
Memories Made in the Messy Moments
Campers always remember the big traditions — Color War, the July 4th Carnival, trips, Covechella — but the bunk moments….Those shape them just as deeply.
- The laughter before lights-out.
- The morning rush to get to breakfast on time.
- The dressing the same.
- The feeling of being your true self.
The feeling of being part of something bigger than yourself is why camp friendships feel so real, so fast.
It’s why finding a stray sock can make your whole day brighter.
That’s bunk life!
Together, around the Cove 💙
